I try to keep seasonal decorating very simple and I love working with moss. I made some giant moss balls several months ago to sit on top of an old architectural capital and I loved the way they turned out! So I thought making some moss covered pumpkins would be perfect for our Autumn decor! They are very simple to make, all you need is a moss mat from the big box craft stores, a plastic pumpkin, scissors, and a glue gun.
Luckily I found some very inexpensive plastic pumpkins that have a very realistic stem. Cut the moss mat in sections approximately the width and length of a "section" of the pumpkin. Cut the ends of each strip to be tapered like a "feather" shape. Peel the paper backing off of the strip and add glue.
Place the moss strip over one of the sections of the pumpkin, working on opposite sections until done. If they overlap each other, it doesn't matter, just be sure and press all edges down.
Here's the finished pumpkin!
They are so easy to make and look fabulous in any Fall decor or color scheme!
