Cute & Inexpensive Wood Stands for Porch Decor

These porch display stands are so very easy to make and cost next to nothing for the wood. We made these with our grand kids, doing the cutting and then they helped put them together.
For only $1.64, this is a quick DIY project for your front porch. You can use these seasonal stands throughout the year on your porch or steps to display potted plants in summer, pumpkins or mums for autumn, like we show here or Christmas items in winter.

We love the added space to layer our pumpkins and flowers - these are so easy to make in that you can modify them to fit your needs. You can make them larger, taller, shorter, or even wider - it's totally up to you!





Start with simple pine fence slats from a home supply store. Ours only cost $1.64 each (price may vary a bit by store location). Select straight boards with as few blemishes as possible.





You can use either a hand saw, jig saw, circular saw, chop saw, or sliding miter saw as shown to cut these boards. Cut and shape the tops and cut the shelves. (NOTE: All exact measurements are found in the detailed how-to on our site.)





Construct the stands by positioning the shelves at the locations you've marked and use nails or screws. Remember, the lines you've drawn on the inside of your side boards indicate the top of the shelf, not the bottom.





Here's where we enlisted the help of our grandkids - it's a fun task to be able to pound with a hammer!





You can make a double-width stand or a smaller stand that would even work as a boot or shoe holder - all for under $5.





We're really happy with the added curb appeal that the stands bring when they're layered with simple pumpkins and inexpensive mums - it doesn't have to be expensive to be beautiful!
