I think even the most folks in the "don't paint wood" camp may have to agree that this old chest of drawers might be an exception to the rule of no painting wood! #septfabflippincontestTo say it was used and abused is understatement. There were stain and paint drip marks, water rings, and small nails all over this poor chest. After a thorough cleaning, I got to work removing the flower decal from the top drawer. It peeled off quite easily.I rolled on several light coats (allowing each coat to dry) of General Finishes milk paint in Antique White to get the beautiful finish. I left the hardware as it was. I love how they look against the Antique White. The top of the dresser was sanded and stained with a dark walnut stain. What a difference! Please visit http://createandbabble.com/painted-chest-of-drawers/ for more photos and details of this makeover.Since the outside got such an impressive makeover, I had to make the inside looks special, too. I lined the drawers with striped gift wrap paper. I sprayed a little repositionable spray adhesive to the bottom of each drawer so that the paper will not slide around.Original article and pictures take http://www.hometalk.com/10318149/chest-of-drawers-rescued site
