Easy Centerpiece From Nature

Trimmed back our Crepe Myrtle trees and thought " this wood is very pretty, I should be able to do something with it." Then it came to me, I remembered another site that made candle, tea light, holders . So it began, my creativity!

First decide how tall you want your candle holders to be. Remember the branch needs to be wide enough to make a depression to hold the tea light.

I then cut them to the sizes I wanted and lightly sanded them in random places, always with the grain of the wood, to bring out some of the character of the grain.

Had my dear husband cut out the tops with the size of a tea light in mind.

When the tea lights fit in the holes as deep as I wanted them to then I cleaned them with a damp cloth , let them dry well and polyurethane them.

Remember to let any branch you decided to use dry out well before beginning the cutting and hole making process otherwise they might split .

The poly or whatever finish you decide to use brings out the grain and color of the wood. Decorate them for any season or theme and there you have it, your centerpiece creation from nature!

Looks so cute in the evening and I have separated them and used them in decorating around the house. Use your creativity. They look cute with pine cones too! Word of caution, do not use real tea lights , they could catch the wood on fire.
