Fun and Easy Fireplace Screen

I had a bunch of bi-fold doors hanging out in the shed while I was looking for an easy project to fill my time. The best thing about bi-fold doors? You can make almost any "shutter" project with an old unwanted set of doors!

Here's the after....a fall setup that makes me smile!





Here's the way this project started. I have a bunch of bi-fold doors in the shed, different colors and different sizes. But if you're creative, that won't matter much.





After a few minutes and a several cuts with the miter saw, I had 4 pieces of bi-fold doors that I was going to use for my "shutter" project.





If you've ever painted slats by hand, be it a shutter or a bi-fold door--you know the drill. Paint one side, flip, catch the runs, flip, paint, catch more runs. I used my best friend the Finish Max from Homeright to make this job go so quickly and easily. No runs, no drips, no errors, and a perfect finish!





I added some double acting hinges from D.Lawless Hardware to make my "shutters" fold like an accordion.





You may notice in this picture that the two outside panels match each other, but not the two inside panels. I thought it was best to arrange them this way so that it's less noticeable. Of course after they are decorated for Fall (or Christmas) it's not an issue.
