DIY Industrial Hose Clamp Mirrors

We're back with September's Home Depot Gift Challenge, where my bloggy friends and I get together and using only one item from Home Depot, we create an awesome gift! This month we used hose clamps in any size. Surprisingly, my idea came to me pretty quickly; make industrial mirrors out of them!

You only need a few items for this project: hose clamps, round decorative mirrors in corresponding sizes (I got mine at Joann's), a chain (I used an old necklace), pliers, and a flathead screwdriver.

I started by opening up the clamps all the way and laying the mirror inside. Holding them both together, I carefully tightened the clamp with my screwdriver. When it was tight but not too tight, I made sure the mirror was in the spot I wanted, then tightened it a bit more. Don't tighten too much or you'll chip or break the mirror!

To hang, I used my pliers to pull out a few "links" from my old chain necklace.

I put one link in the "tail" end of the hose link in the very last slit (this would be the slack from tightening the clamp). I put the chain inside the link, and then closed it tightly using pliers.

I did the same with the other side, making sure that the tightening mechanism in the middle would be in the center when hung and not crooked.

That's it! I did the same to the other clamps and mirrors, and hung them on the wall. Perfect industrial decor for super cheap!
